Ajp 500 Description
1952 AJS 18s. This bike looks great and was running fine when I last took it out a few years ago. It has the classic Jampot shocks which are in excellent condition. The faults that I know of are as follows:1. The gas taps leak and will need the corks replaced. 2. The gearbox shifter sometimes hangs up on the 4-3 downshift; a light tap releases it. 3. The primary case leaks. 4. The front brake is poor. 5. The generator does not work so I just rode on the battery as the bike has a magneto. On the plus side, the paint and chrome are in overall excellent condition, with just some nicks and scratches on the paint. The front mudguard has some painted-over scratches which I have included in the photo’s. The tires are good and the engine runs good. The gas and oil tanks have both been sealed so there is no rust present.If you need more information, please contact me. Please keep in mind that this bike will be 70 years old next year; it looks great but does have a few warts and pimples which I have tried to describe.
