It was so popular that it inspired a production model – the Kawasaki Vulcan Drifter. Indian experts will never confuse this for an original Chief, obviously, but it’s an impressive tribute from Kawi that has become a cult bike. The Drifter was available in 800cc or 1500cc (1470) variants – the latter is available here today and the bigger engine put out 63 horsepower and 83 pound-feet of torque. It weighed 715 pounds wet, but the specifications aren’t super important with this bike. Many riders found it to be the perfect compromise of 40s looks with modern technology.
