The Yamaha Venture is a touring motorcycle produced from 1983 to 1993 and from 1999 to 2009. The 1983 Yamaha Venture, also known as the 1983 Venture Royale, was the first first liquid-cooled, four stroke, V-4 Yamaha motorcycle. The bike was comfortable — it came with an adjustable air suspension and its seat was orthopedically designed to deliver maximum comfort. In addition, the motorcycle was equipped with a stereo radio. Engine and Transmission The 1983 Yamaha Venture comes with a powerful 1198cc, or 73.1-cubic-inch, 90 horsepower engine. The engine has a 76.0mm bore and a 66mm stroke. Its compression ratio is 10.5:1. The engine is equipped with a Mikuni 34mm constant-vacuum carburetor. The bike has a battery-powered, inductive, magnetically triggered ignition. The 1983 Yamaha Venture has a five-speed transmission. Chassis The motorcycle has a double-downtube, full-cradle frame. It comes with a center-axle, air-adjustable fork front suspension with 40mm tubes, anti-dive valving and a 5.1-inch, or 130mm, wheel travel. The rear suspension is adjustable for rebound dampening, and has an air-adjustable shock absorber and has 4.2 inches, or 107mm, of rear-wheel travel. The 1983 Yamaha Venture is equipped with hydraulic dual-disc front brakes with dual-piston calipers, and single-disc rear brakes with dual-piston calipers. The bike has a cast 2.15 x 18 front wheel and a cast 3.00 x 16 rear wheel. Other Specifications The 1983 Yamaha Venture’s wheelbase is 63.4 inches. The seat is 31.2 inches high. The ground clearance measures 5.6 inches. The 1983 Yamaha Venture is equipped with a 20-liter, or 5.3-gallon, fuel tank. The motorcycle weighs 911.5 pounds. The bike has high- and low-headlight beams of 65 and 60 watts. The motorcycle comes with a speedometer, an odometer, a tripmeter and a tachometer.
